The ARIA nominations for 2009 were recently released, with Jessica Mauboy, Empire of the Sun and AC/DC looking to clean up. One category which I found debatable, was the single of the year the nominees:

• Chase The Feeling  - Hilltop Hoods
• The Last Day On Earth - Kate Miller Heidke
• My Delerium - Ladyhawke
• Sweet Disposition - Temper Trap

 
Do you think there’s been bigger and better songs this year than these?

Personally, I can’t believe Foreign Land from Eskimo Joe isn’t nominated - this to me has been the biggest song of the last twelve months. 

What song do you think will win out of the nominees, or what song do you THINK should be the ARIA single of the year?

As we enter the warmer months the anticipation builds about music festivals. Summer is such a great time on the Gold Coast because we are a destination of many big festivals including The Big Day Out , Good Vibrations and Summa Field Dayze. The first lot of acts have recently been announced for the 2010 Big Day Out and I must say I am very excited at the chance to see Powderfinger again. A few beers, warm weather and watching Powderfinger live just on sunset - it doesn’t get much better. I have always been a regular at the Big day Out each year and I remember some of the best ones. Seeing a very young Silverchair in the mid 90’s, Metallica, Green Day, Foo Fighters and Soundgarden are all highlights. It makes me ask the question what would be your ultimate lineup. Katy Perry performed in Brisbane for the first time at the Tivoli on Wednesday 12 August. It was a great show and I was lucky enough to meet her afterwards.
