Requestfest

If you haven’t heard we have a brand new night show kicking off 7pm weeknights called the Requestfest. Your host is Peter Carter and he will play anything you want to hear (well maybe not Celine Dion). You can SMS ur request throughout the day or during the show, or you can call him in the studio. He’ll also be active on Facebook and Twitter ready to interact with you. Other things featured in the Requestfest include a daily gig guide, what’s on the streets segment (capturing what’s on the mind of people around the Gold Coast) and your chance to vote on brand new music with our Hot or Not. Make sure you don’t miss it weeknights from 7pm the Requestfest Live and Local.

THE HOT OR NOT TOP 20

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Make sure you listen to a new countdown show we have on 1029 Hot tomato.

Every Sunday from 4-6pm I host the Hot or Not Top 20. These are the top songs from your feedback at 1029.com.au

This show is a chance to hear the latest hit songs from the biggest artists around the world and also you will find out some interesting things about your favourite rock and pop stars. Have a listen to the show and I would love to hear some feedback, what would you like to hear more of?

Also if you not a member of Hot Or Not make sure you sign up and tell your friends about it.

Who chooses the music?

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Following up from my post last week about being on the radio filling in, one of the calls I took was from one listener who thought the announcers still picked the music.

Fact is there is a whole lot more that goes into the way our music is picked. We obviously have a strategy and a sound we want to market to you, the reality is we gather the information from your feedback in Hot or Not and other research means. Music is then put together according to sound, the song type (be it rock, pop, dance etc) by our music director. It is more a science of interpretation vs.. playing what we feel like, if that was the case I’m sure you’d be hearing more Metallica and Kaiser Chiefs.

It is a collective effort - what do you honestly think of the music we play and what do you think of the above methods? If you have any suggestions let me know.

Hot or Not?

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Here at 1029 Hot Tomato, we really value your opinion. If you haven’t already joined Hot or Not why not spare a few minutes and sign up. Along with scoring great prizes, you actually make a difference to what we do.

Once you join, we’ll send out invitations to take part in interactive music surveys where you’ll hear snippets of songs and grade them, afterwards you’ll be prompted with a question about Hot Tomato then asked to refer a friend to Hot or Not. The great thing about Hot or Not is that it’s not just about gathering an opinion on our music but a forum where you can make any open suggestions about Hot Tomato, it could be the type of things you’d like to hear Holmsey and Flan talking more about, the types of prizes you’d like to win or even give us a reality check on how we can improve.

Sign up, spread the word and notice the impact your opinion will have on the sound of 1029 Hot Tomato.
