Summer Festival Wrap

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Well summer is over and this means the end of another festival season. We once again were lucky this summer with lots to choose from in our area; Summerfieldayze, The Big Day Out, Good Vibrations and Soundwave just to name a few.

I have attached a couple of pictures from some of my highlights.  I would love to hear from you and your favourite festival experiences and favourite acts.

The good news is not long to wait for the next big festival which is Blues &  Roots at Byron Bay.

GOLD COAST SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVALS

Monday, October 5th, 2009

As we enter the warmer months the anticipation builds about music festivals. Summer is such a great time on the Gold Coast because we are a destination of many big festivals including The Big Day Out , Good Vibrations and Summa Field Dayze. The first lot of acts have recently been announced for the 2010 Big Day Out and I must say I am very excited at the chance to see Powderfinger again. A few beers, warm weather and watching Powderfinger live just on sunset - it doesn’t get much better. I have always been a regular at the Big day Out each year and I remember some of the best ones. Seeing a very young Silverchair in the mid 90’s, Metallica, Green Day, Foo Fighters and Soundgarden are all highlights. It makes me ask the question what would be your ultimate lineup. Please send through your responses and I will see if I agree, here from you soon.

Festivals vs single bill concerts

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

It seems the Gold Coast has been spoilt with the crème of the big music events in 2009.

So far we’ve had the Big Day Out, Good Vibrations and now The V Festival which was held on Sunday. Duffy, Madness and Snow Patrol headlined the bill with The Killers being a "crowd pleaser".

In the midst of tough economic times, are you choosing music festivals over "single bill" concerts? Does your money go further with the festivals or has it been the appeal of the line-up?.

Love to know what impact, if at all the global financial crisis has had.
