FINALIST NUMBER 21

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Peter Wischusen
Nominated by: Emily (Big Sister)
Sport of Interest: AFL
Peter has been playing AFL for the Mudgeeraba Saints for over five years and this year is the captain of the under 11’s team. He has a passion for the game, all you have to do is see the posters plastered on the walls of his bedroom and when he’s not playing he’s watching it on tv. Mum doesn’t understand how he can get up before 6am on the weekend to play footy but can’t get up before 7am to go to school. All I can say is he is a very dedicated eleven year old!

FINALIST NUMBER 19

Friday, July 30th, 2010
Jake Burnell

Jake Burnell

Nominated by: Debby, his mum
Sport of Interest: Swimming

I think Jake should be Hot Tomato’s Junior Sports Star of the Year because: he is a hard worker and has had some outstanding results lately like: making it to state long course championships for the 100 metre freestyle which he does in 1min 15 seconds and also made state for the short course championships for the 50 metre freestyle which he does a 32.

His most recent achievement was last week he competed in the Gold Coast regional’s in the 200m individual medley. He has been trying to get to regional’s for years and finally made it after going through his school carnival and district. He also participates in Tugun nippers and Tugun jets soccer.

His moto before he goes into anything is: Don’t think of what could’ve been think of what will be.

I do gymnastics twice a week I do a total of three and half hours a week. When i first started at TSS I was in level two but I have great upper body strength so I got to go up to level 3 for one of my classes. Next year I will start competing.
